AI Game Summaries and Game Recaps

SportNinja’s AI Game Summaries automatically create an engaging recap after a completed game result is recorded. Each recap highlights the final score, key scoring events, standout performances and other details available in the game record.

AI Game Summaries are turned on by default for all organizations using a paid SportNinja plan. They can be turned off or customized separately for each competition.

Game summaries are displayed in the Game Summary section of the game’s Overview page on both web and mobile.

How AI Game Summaries Work

After a game is completed and its final result is saved, SportNinja automatically generates a recap using the information recorded for that game, which may include:

  • Final score
  • Period-by-period scoring
  • Goals, assists and other scoring events
  • Player performances
  • Game date and location
  • Other available game statistics

The more complete the game data is, the more detailed and accurate the recap can be.

Note: Game recaps are generated by AI. While they are based on the information recorded in SportNinja, AI-generated content may occasionally contain an inaccurate or unexpected statement.

Managing AI Game Summaries

AI Game Summaries are enabled by default for organizations using SportNinja’s paid plans. The feature and its tone settings can be managed separately for each competition.

To review or change the settings:

  1. Sign in to SportNinja on the web using an account with permission to manage the competition.
  2. Open the applicable competition.
  3. Open the competition’s settings.
  4. Scroll to AI Summary Settings.
  5. Use Enable AI Game Summaries to turn the feature on or off for that competition.
  6. Select the preferred Competitive Level and Enthusiasm Level.
  7. Save your changes.

By default, competitions are configured with Medium selected for both Competitive Level and Enthusiasm Level.

Competitive Level

The Competitive Level determines how the recap describes the nature and significance of the game.

Setting Description
Low Uses a recreational tone focused on fun and participation while avoiding negative framing.
Medium Uses a balanced, natural tone suitable for most competitions.
High Uses a highly competitive tone that emphasizes intensity, stakes and dominant performances.

For recreational or youth competitions, Low or Medium will generally provide the most appropriate tone. High is best suited to more competitive leagues and events.

Enthusiasm Level

The Enthusiasm Level controls the energy and style of the writing.

Setting Description
Neutral Uses a measured, factual, wire-service reporter style.
Medium Uses a natural, balanced tone.
Full Uses a high-energy broadcaster style with more vivid and dramatic language.

Competitive Level and Enthusiasm Level work together. For example, a recreational competition could use Low Competitive Level with Full Enthusiasm to create positive, energetic recaps without placing too much emphasis on winning or losing.

Viewing a Game Recap

Once generated, the recap appears on the game’s Overview page under Game Summary.

  • On the web, the summary is displayed alongside the game details and statistics.
  • In the SportNinja mobile app, the summary appears near the top of the game Overview. Tap More to expand and read the full recap.

A recap may take a short time to appear after the game is finalized.

Troubleshooting

A game recap is not appearing

Confirm that:

  • Your organization is using a paid SportNinja plan.
  • Enable AI Game Summaries is turned on for the correct competition.
  • The game has been completed and marked as final.
  • The final score has been saved.
  • You are viewing the game’s Overview page.
  • You have refreshed the web page or reopened the game in the mobile app.

If the summary still does not appear after a short period, contact SportNinja Support.

The recap is missing players or important moments

AI Game Summaries can only use information recorded in the game. Ensure that goal scorers, assists and other relevant events have been entered correctly.

Games containing only a final score may produce a shorter and less detailed recap.

The wording is too competitive or not energetic enough

Open the competition’s AI Summary Settings and adjust the Competitive Level or Enthusiasm Level to better match your organization and participants.
