Set up and edit - Competitions (New Seasons, Tournaments, etc)
Overview: Our "Competition" refers to a specific grouping of teams and games (eg. a new Season, Tournament, etc). Every Organization has a unique structure and SportNinja is configurable to meet the demands of your custom requirements.
Note: Before setting up a Competition, ensure you doing so under the desired Org and/or Sub-Org structure.
Steps:
1. From your Competitions tab, hit the "New" button in the top right corner.

Alternate Option (CLONE): If you would like to copy forward a prior Competition structure - of Divisions and Teams, you can also CLONE a previous Competition (eg. last year's Regular Season)
To Clone a Competition:
Navigate to the Competition you would like to copy over and hit the vertical ellipsis button on the right and select "Clone Competition".

Steps and Tips when Cloning:
-
You should Clone the existing Season if you are expect the majority of the divisions and teams to be the same. Cloning will copy over all Divisions, Teams and Rosters (but not schedule).
-
If you Clone, then you would just need to remove any teams that aren't included, and any players from the roster that aren't included.
-
If you don't Clone, you will create a new Competition from scratch, then create the Divisions in the Set-up tab, and add Teams to them there. When you add teams you have a choice of creating a new empty roster, or copying forward a previous roster (similar to cloning).
-
For any teams that need Rosters updated, you can either invite the Team Rep into that team to manage (invite/add) their players. OR, you can add or import them team-by-team. Or, you can use the Multi-Team Roster import file to update all teams and rosters at once. You can download this file from the "Teams" tab.
2. Complete the required fields and hit Submit.

3. Once created, go to the Set up tab to edit your Divisions and Teams as needed.

You will have 3 choices for Adding Teams:
- Select a previous Team, and copy forward a prior roster (including Team Reps)
- Select a previous Team, and create a new Roster (this will preserve the connection to this team's data)
- Manually add a brand New Team(s)
(For CLONED seasons, no need to do anything, there will already be a new roster created for each of the teams cloned over in the new Competition)

Next Steps: Before you are ready to schedule and score games, ensure the following entities exist:
- Locations (NOTE: If you have used a location / surface in the past you will not need to re-add it)
- Games/Schedules
- Team Managers (Team Reps)
- Rosters / Players
- League Officials (Referees, Scorekeepers)
(Exception: If you CLONED a prior competition this step is not required)
