Video Streaming - Device / Equipment Recommendations

Overview

  • No special equipment is required to stream a game.
  • All you need to do is to download the SportNinja app on the device you plan to livestream with (iOS or Android). 
  • Most current mobile devices are capable of providing good quality recordings. 
  • Role Access Requirement: To broadcast you must have access as a Videographer for that game, or be a Team Official or League Admin. See Role Permissions

Bottom line: A modern smartphone + stable mount + power is enough to produce surprisingly good game footage. Everything else is optional optimization.

 

Mobile Streaming Kit  - Suggestions to enhance quality

  1. Stable Mount (Tripod or Mount/Clamp)
    Keeps the phone steady and elevated. Fence mounts work great for hockey and soccer; tripods are ideal for gyms and sidelines

  2. Portable Power Bank
    Streaming drains batteries fast. A high-capacity power bank ensures you can record a full game without interruptions.

  3. External Microphone (Optional but Helpful)
    Improves audio clarity for whistles, crowd noise, and commentary, especially in rinks and gyms.

  4. Wide-Angle Lens Attachment (Optional)
    Helps capture more of the playing surface, particularly useful for hockey and basketball where space is tight.

  5. Reliable Internet (Venue Wi-Fi or Mobile Data)
    Strong connectivity matters more than any accessory. Test the signal before the game starts.

Stable Mount / Tripod. They are relatively inexpensive and make a significant difference. Most tripods can be purchased with a mobile phone attachment.
