Video Streaming - Steps (for Broadcasting / Recording)

🎥 New Feature: Live Streaming & Game Recording

We’re excited to introduce live streaming and game recording for Teams - directly within the SportNinja mobile app. This update makes it easier than ever to capture games, share them with your community, and unlock automated highlights.

👤 Videographer Assignment

  • Each team can designate one videographer per game
  • Team Managers control who is assigned
  • The videographer does not need to be on the roster (parents, friends, or external videographers are allowed)
  • Team Managers are automatically eligible to act as videographer for any game
  • Each team can control whether their stream is viewable by the opposing team
    • This is ON by default
    • When enabled, viewers can switch between both teams’ streams

📡 Streaming & Recording Games

  • The assigned videographer can start streaming or recording by tapping “Stream / Record” from the game details screen (Schedule → Game Details)
  • Setup is intentionally simple
    • Best practices and setup tips (e.g., tripod recommendations) are available here: [Help Article – link to be added]
  • Games can also be recorded using any external device and uploaded afterward
    • Note: live streaming and automated highlights are not supported with uploaded videos (yet - coming soon!)
  • Important: the videographer must be different from the scorekeeper for the same game

👀 Watching Games

  • Anyone can watch a game:
    • Live, while the stream is active, or
    • On demand, via playback after the game
  • When a game goes live:
    • All team members and followers receive a push notification
  • You do not need to be rostered on a team to watch:
    • Use Search to find a team
    • Follow the team to see their schedule and receive notifications

⭐ Automated Highlights

  • Highlights are automatically generated when a game is both streamed live and scored live
  • No extra setup is required
  • Goals are clipped automatically when the scorekeeper records goals in real time
  • If live scoring with highlights is desired, please coordinate with your league or scoring officials
